Welcome to the Restore and Inspire Blog!

Vitality, sanity and connection

There is nothing better than the feeling you get when you’re fully rested, restored physically and energetically. I want more of this.

Your unique life, and all the stages of it can be a complex combination of pure joy, overwhelmingly full, or absolutely lacking. It seems we live, and ride these perilous waves of having more of one thing and less of another. This is a challenge and requires constant adaptation to get the best out of it.

How can we keep on top on the continual re-setting of the balance to feel full of vitality, sane and connected?

Yoga

I was drawn to Yoga because it made me feel good, and it still does. That part has not changed – but nowadays the ‘taking part’ has become ridiculously hard. Yoga helps to maintain a good level of physical and mental wellbeing, the moving parts keeps joints moving and bodies open with vital energy. The stillness, resting and quiet parts offer a space. That space. This is where the re-connection takes place, from a discombobulated self and working towards wholeness and experiencing more of the good stuff.

Restore

Restore, or else what…? Restoration, the re-charge, the time to stop comes whether you planned it or not. Being run down, or becoming unwell could be a sign that your immune system is not coping with its job of protecting you from outside invaders because it’s spending energy on stress, for example.

If your body is unable to maintain all its proper functions over extended period, there can be a massive shift away from normal balance. That feeling of harmony and zest for life goes away. Is it easy to forget who you are when there’s nothing in the tank to enjoy living. This is the just ‘getting by’. We have all been there. I want less of this.

Restoring ourselves should be number one on our list of things to do, but why does it generally only feature AFTER we have done all the other stuff? We can end up completely fatigued by the menial, boring, unsatisfying jobs or caring for others that scrolling on social media is the only thing we can manage.

The mindless scroll adding a little bit more guilt, regret, or envy for all the things we’ve not been able to achieve or do. This is not restoration.

Insanity

Personally it does interest me to look at how people keep their homes so perfect and clean. Keep up with a full yoga program every day. Eat amazing non processed foods. Go on tropical holidays. Having a thriving business and family life. And look absolutely gorgeous and happy at the same time. My ultimate goal of course…. I love and hate seeing this type of influencer. These feeds only ever feed a sense of not living up to these expectations and being weirdly influenced by them… (this is the part where I lose my sanity).

Inspire

So, I’ve decided to write about how I am managing (or not managing) to Restore and Inspire myself and I’m looking forward to sharing this journey with you. You can expect to read about my own thoughts and ideas on living, parenting three children, being at home a lot, cooking vegetarian food and what inspires me to keep adapting and making changes.

I’ll be showing you how to bring Yoga into my everyday life and offering you some ideas of how you can too, on a mission to Restore and Inspire!
